Perineural Injection Technique – PIT

Perineural Injection Technique (PIT), also known as Neural Prololtherapy, is an injection treatment for neuropathic pain. Neuropathic pain occurs when the nerves are damaged and inflamed. There are many causes of neuropathic pains such as overuse, trauma, or nutrient deficiencies. PIT uses a dextrose solution that is injected just under the skin. The dextrose solution stops pain and reduces inflammation in the damaged nerves. This reduction in inflammation allows nutrients to reach the impacted nerves so they can heal and remain pain free. This therapy works wonders for joints and painful tissues.

What to expect during PIT:

We will first lie you down. Once you are comfortable several micro injections with a small needle will occur around painful area. Some areas may be more tender than others due to inflammation. Patients report that PIT injections are very tolerable. Upon completion you will have pain reduction or resolution.

Expected Treatment for PIT:

The number of treatments needed vary upon complexity and severity of the patient. Most patients need 4-8 sessions for long lasting pain relief.
